After working for almost a decade as a photojournalist, Cristina de Middel (Alicante, 1975) made her name in 2012 with Afronauts, a work on the space programme that Zambia tried to promote in 1964 and whose aim was to send the first African to the moon. His work questions the language and veracity of photography as a document and plays with reconstructions that blur the boundary between reality and fiction. In this new volume of the PHotoBolsillo collection, in addition to some images from Afronautas, other images from the series Antípodas, Humpty Dumpty, Messenger, Party, Poly-Spam, PopTotem, Snap Fingers and Whistle and This Is What Hatred Did are also included. In 2013 she was awarded the InfinityAward from the International Center of Photography (ICP).
